There are so many things that shouldn’t be worn at all:-) You have certainly seen many examples of a bad choice of clothes or makeup just walking down the streets of your city or meeting people at work – some people seem not to have seen themselves in the mirror for some time.
I can’t say whether there are countries where people dress more properly than somewhere else – I have always heard about a stereotypical image that French and Italians are more interested in fashion and their image more than Americans or Germans. But I can’t agree with that – each of us is an individual and I believe that we can find a nicely dressed person in every part of the world.
So there are some things people should pay attention to when they are about to leave their house:-)
Five basic rules:
1) Colours
The more colours you wear, the worse the first impression would be. So remember – don’t combine more than two glaring colours together and be careful to choose proper colour of your accessories. Even if you tone the colour of
your skirt with your shirt, but forget to take into account your shoes or purse, the result of your effort will go down into flames. There should be few basic colours and pieces of clothes in your wardrobe that go together and you can mix them – for example a white shirt, a simple T-shirt, a black skirt, a pair of jeans, a pair of black trousers, an elegant two-piece dress and a pair of black shoes. These are the basic items of clothes you should have at home, and then you can buy something in your favourite colours (but don’t forget that the colour of your skin and hair is also very important). So always think about the impression you want to make and let another person to confirm that the combination of colours you chose do not clash.
2) Patterns
If you are a bit overweight, never wear horizontal stripes or shirt with big floral pattern. On the contrary try vertical stripes or inobtrusive pattern like small dots or little flowers. Also keep in mind that you shouldn’t wear more patterns together (also applies for men:-)
3) Material
Please, never try to wear such things like a coat made of fur with a pair of shiny trousers and red leather stiletto heels. Even if you saw Madonna wearing the very same combination:-) The material of your clothes also matters – so as I have said before, don’t combine more different materials.
4) Jewellery and accesories
Be also careful about the choice of your handbag, earrings, neklaces and other accessories – for instance if you should take part in an important business meeting you should surely wear appropriate jewellery. Earrings that jangle or a huge gold necklace might be found a little distracting. Also pay attention to small details like the colour of your nail polish or your haircut.
5) Makeup
Makeup that clashes with the style of your clothes can really ruin your image, so do not forget to spare enough time for yourself in the morning. If you look wonderful, you will also feel the same way. So never hurry in the morning but try to wake up fifteen minutes earlier and make sure that your hair and makeup is perfect. You will definetely feel better and more self-confident during the whole day.
