This is what I really hate: stereotypes about beauty and emaciated models in today’s magazines and advertisements. Do you really think that men like women so thin that you can see bones under their skin? I don’t really know why we do such terrible things to ourselves. Being a woman is wonderful and I can’t understand why almost everyone of us want to lose weight, needs to buy expensive make-up and stop eating “normal” food.

In my opinion, it is necessary to stop this trend in order to save us and our daughters from the danger of suffering from anorexia and bulimy. It is really important to be confident and able to see what real beauty is, and this is why I became such a huge fan of the Dove Campaign For Real Beauty.
Dove and their Self-Esteem Fund fight to free ourselves and the next generation from beauty stereotypes and give support development of women’s self-confidence. From Dove official website: “The Dove Campaign for Real Beauty was inspired by a global study, The Real Truth About Beauty. The study found that woman around the world believe that the definition of beauty has become limiting and unattainable – as if only thin, young and blond are beautiful. And, today’s narrow definition of beauty is having a profound effect on the self-esteem of women:
- Only 2% of women aroung the world describe themselves as beautiful
- 81% in the US strongly agree that “the media and advertising set an unrealistic standard of beauty that most women can never achieve”.
Our experts have helped us understand the research and explain how these trends are affecting women everywhere. Together, we continue to explore the truth behind beauty with the goal of helping more women feel beautiful every day.”
